Title: Organik Interview
Post by: canabatz on January 28, 2008, 04:38:32 AM
(http://www.monkeysfist.co.za/images/2008/01/organic1.jpg)A hip and respectable production has stomped it’s way into the South African trance scene. It goes by the name of Organik. Breaking into the big leagues with their “Change the World” (http://www.monkeysfist.co.za/2008/01/02/organik-media-presents/) party featuring the legendary Eskimo himself next month. Warren Booysen is the man that gave me an insiders perspective and was kind enough to answer some questions.

Who is in charge of Organik?
Warren: Wozie and I. We also have many friends that kindly help out where ever they can.
Tell us more about Organik’s promotional endevours?
W: Promotion is basically our lives. We try and use all forms of direct media to promote ourselves. I don’t want to give too much away.
You have a major party ahead of you, featuring Eskimo of all artists. What does something like that add to your brand?
W: It obviously adds strength to the brand, we think that Eskimo is the perfect artist for the type of crowd we bring. A young, up for it crowd. We also love his music.
The latest flyers made a huge impression on me. Who is your designer?
W: Wozie is the designer. He is a real pro at what he does.
What artists do you have signed to Organik?
W: We started the record label Organik Media to release tracks from our live acts. Our two current live acts are Parana and Cybernetix. The DJs we have signed are Plusminus, Lil’s Fairie and Psyguy.
What is in the pipeline for Organik Media?
W: A compilation after the Eskimo party… featuring a few tracks by some well known international artists. A Cybernetix album is in the pipeline. Their production is top notch and their sound is dark.
Where are you based… (might move this higher up)
W: We are based in Cape Town, South Africa. Some would say we are based in front of the bar at Roots, but this is not true…
Tell us more about the regular events Organik hosts.
W: We host a party every Wednesday night at Roots in Obs. This has had a HUGE increase in popularity over the last couple of months. It’s alot of stress to cope with every wednesday but its good to see so many smiles every week. Which makes it worth it.
Where do you see organik in the next two years?
W: We have many plans in the pipeline… but we hope to push the records label a bit more. We will still be rocking every Wednesday thats for sure! Maybe one a or two big outdoor festivals every year as well.
Thanks Warren. Always nice to hear a fellow South African doing big things for himself and the music industry. All the best for the rest of the year.
